Natural Lip Balm With Shea Butter and Beeswax

Lips dry out faster than the rest of your face. The skin there is thin, and it has almost no oil glands of its own, so it cannot protect itself the way your cheeks can. A good balm does that job for it. Here is what is in ours and how to use it.
What is in our lip balm
- Organic shea butter softens.
- Organic beeswax seals. It leaves a thin layer that keeps moisture in and wind out.
- Organic jojoba and sunflower oils make it glide instead of drag.
- Vitamin E oil helps keep the oils fresh.
- Potato starch gives it a smooth, less waxy finish.
That is the whole unscented tube. The scented ones add a pair of essential oils.
When to use it
- Before bed. Lips lose moisture overnight, so a layer at night does the most good.
- Before you head outside. Cold air, wind and dry heat are the usual culprits.
- Under lipstick. A thin layer first helps color go on evenly.
If your lips are already chapped, resist the urge to lick them. It feels better for a second and then dries them out more. Reach for the balm instead.
Four options
- Rose Earth: rose geranium and patchouli.
- Cozy Calm: Roman chamomile and frankincense.
- Sweet Bloom: sweet orange and neroli.
- Unscented: nothing added. The safest pick if your lips are sensitive.
Good to know
Each tube holds 0.17 oz, which is small enough for any pocket. Keep it out of a hot car, because natural balms soften in the heat. It contains beeswax, so it is not vegan.
