Magnesium Butter for Bedtime: What to Expect

Magnesium Butter

Magnesium butter is a body butter with magnesium blended in. People usually reach for it at the end of the day, as part of slowing down before bed. Ours is called Golden Slumber. Here is what is in it, how to use it, and what to expect.

What is in Golden Slumber

  • Organic shea butter and organic beeswax form a rich, whipped base.
  • Organic jojoba oil infused with calendula and lemon balm adds two gentle garden herbs.
  • Organic sunflower oil and vitamin E oil keep it smooth and fresh.
  • Magnesium chloride is the magnesium itself.
  • Roman chamomile essential oil gives it a soft, sleepy scent.

How to use it

About twenty to thirty minutes before bed, take a small amount and massage it in slowly. Calves, feet and shoulders are the favorite spots. Take your time. The massage is half the point.

What to expect

We want to be straight with you. Research on how much magnesium the skin actually takes in is limited and mixed, so we will not promise that a butter will change your sleep. What we can say is that a slow massage with a warm, chamomile scented butter is a lovely way to tell your body the day is over. Many people make it a nightly habit for that reason.

Magnesium on the skin can tingle or feel a little itchy for some people, especially on dry or freshly shaved skin. Start with a small amount and see how your skin feels.

Choose a size

It comes in 1 oz, 2 oz and 4 oz jars. The 1 oz jar is enough to find out whether it suits you. The 4 oz jar is for people who use it every night.

Good to know

It is for use on the skin only. Keep it away from eyes and broken skin. If you are pregnant or have a health condition, check with your doctor before adding it to your routine. Like our other butters, it softens in the heat, so store it somewhere cool.

Take a look at our Magnesium Butter and make it part of your evening.
